TBK BANK BUILDING

The TBK bank building was erected in 1890 on the corner of Main and Jefferson Streets in Savanna. There have been many additions and major re-models that the building has undergone during its 135 year history.

These include the annexation of the Savanna Times Journal building that was built onto the existing bank, on the west side. Another change was the addition of the third floor which was used for a Masonic Lodge until 1982.

The building has withstood much over its 135 year history. There was the great flood of 1965 and a tornado that occurred later the same year! Extensive damage occurred which involved rebuilding of the third floor and the roof.

Two buildings that were connected to the south side of the building were purchased and razed, making room for a parking lot and later, the existing bank drive-through.
