Citizens Bank - Formerly  Known as First Savanna Bank

 Citizen’s State Bank

The site of Citizen’s State Bank has a long history of financial institutions. It all began in 1886, when a group of twelve community leaders established Savanna’s first bank. F.S. Greenleaf served the bank as manager for 50 years. He was also the editor of Savanna Times Journal and built the original home at Havencrest Castle. Through the years, the bank had some name changes but was most commonly known as the First Savanna Savings Bank. In 1972, the bank acquired the A&P Food Store adjacent to the property at 301 Main St, and successfully joined the two buildings into one. Believe it or not… in later years, a former manager of the A&P married an employee of the bank!
