WCCI
If walls could talk… Think of all the stories and broadcasts that have been recounted since the inception of WCCI 54 years ago. The name of the radio station, WCCI, was selected to represent Carroll County Illinois. Looking back to a time gone by, the upstairs of this building was a boat showroom. Boats were hoisted up for display. Large signs advertising the latest boats and motors of the 1950’s still grace the walls of this floor.
In November of 1972 WCCI signed on for the first time followinh authorization from the FCC. A new voice for Carroll County emerged at that time, bringing Local News, Sports, Ag News, and more through the dial. The call letters were carefully selected to represent Carroll County, Illinois.
The studios are still in use today, with some of yesteryear still represented with paneling and a horseshoe desk in the old On-Air control room. Prior to becoming WCCI, the building housed a Pool Hall in the 1960’s.
